Filemaker Pro.  You would need to roll your own of course, it's a generic database program but it does allow you to build to suit.

We use Filemaker Pro here at out big city venue. We use it to track the room rentals, equipment rentals, labor and event planning and calendering for 6 separate rooms that at times may or may not be related. We do over 500 shows per year plus all the related technical and production work.

I'm not sure if it would be able to include things like bar code scanning for equipment that is rented out though.

Looks like someone has thought of it - haven't used it so no telling if it's junk or not, but possibly worth investigating.
