We (day job) tried the Buttkicker amp.  Really pounded, but they were very source sensitive - with some mixers there was no problem, with others they would not complete their power-up sequence.

We tried a PLX3402 - it let the smoke out after 30 minutes (I recall another board member having the same result).

We have stayed with our MA3600s and MA36x12, which have been very (but not completely) reliable.

Use a HPF, as the impedance of the 2 Ohm model drops to .9 down low.

I've heard that the buttkicker proprietary amplifier isnt generally very reliable, can anyone suggest a dependable MONO amplifier (prerably 2 RU) that can supply approximately 2000 watts into 2 ohms?

Bridged mono? One drummer I mix has a RMX1850HD, he is pretty hard on it, just give it it's own circuit. He has a xover in front of it, I dont recall if he uses a HPF on it or not.

The HD is a good choice. That series (1850 and 4050) were designed for having the crap beat out of them. I own a pair of the 4050s, and IIRC, there are 3 power supplies in the 1850 and 4050. One for each power rail, and one for everything else. Not to mention they run on almost any type of power.

I did a gig for Otis Elevator once. Like every job, it had it's ups and downs.
