Juuuuuuust out of curiosity, what is this "great price" ?

Currently? $50ish. But I could easily get it down to $Lunch.

Well, if you've got an extra $50-to-$Lunch laying around, then sure, what the hell, buy it as a piece of memorabilia/decoration.

I mean, I think they look pretty cool in a mod-early-60's kind of way, so y'know, clear a space in your office or basement rec room or rearrange your home theater set-up so it looks like you're using it or something like that.

Don't expect to get any actual audio use out of the thing, though, so whether it works or not is pretty irrelevant.

  I recall that Ivan Beaver was looking for vintage gear like the Vocal Master for his office.... be nice...buy it and then offer it to him for a couple dollars more than you paid for it.... 
   (maybe it'll go in his museum for all to see)

Actually I have completed my Vocal master and Kustom column search.  I got a pair of very good condition blue 4x10 columns and matching head and I think origional cables. 

I am still looking for a pair of 4x12" columns (kustom).

I also got a vintage Shure 588 mic. When I get some time we are going to go back in time and listen to them.  Everything still works-even 40yrs later.

The amp rack is coming along as well-but I am still moving in and out (DON'T ASK!) of my office.  I will get some photos when things settle down.

Do not dis the Shure Vocal Master column!  These are still state of the art line array speakers used in Las Vegas Casinos right on the strip.  Well at least the Sahara Casino, and to be honest it just closed down because it was a dump, but a strip casino is still the big time!   

Actually, I saw it up in the catwalk, mounted on a rail and used as a monitor. Also used as a flyrail monitor, an antique JBL Cabaret series 12" floor wedge!

Here is a pic of the Shure from the Sahara. BTW, its still up there and may end up still there when they remodel the place and open under a new name.

Only a couple of years ago there were vocal master columns in the Las Vegas Hilton in the casino.  Probably the ones Elvis used on the Las Vegas performance movie ('69??)

Craig is right, never make fun of a Vocal Master. The last time I used one was only 7 years ago. It was a newly opened club with a low budget, and I was called in to revamp the PA. All of the cabinets were EAW and the system was actually well put together, just needed a quick overhaul. After the overhaul it was decided that something was needed in monitor world, stage left. The owner didn't have any more cash so we used a pair of dual 12" Vocal Master columns we found under the stage not expecting much. Well, they worked great and sounded great, just what I remembered from all those years ago. The club closed for a while and was resurrected changing from blues to hip hop. I was asked to stop by and found the VMs still in use from about 5 years earlier.

If this was a local sale I would have bought them already.

The unicorns didn't hear Noah because they were too busy beeping their horns.
