Let's try this again...
« on: August 05, 2011, 02:49:14 AM »

Many of you have changed your profile and included your location. To those of you ashamed of your location I understand.

For those of you who would like to let the rest of us know what area of the world you live in, please go to your profile and add your location to the personal text line. It takes about 30 seconds to do this and helps us all.  ;D

To those of you who enjoy accordian or banjo, it is much easier to understand why, now that your location can be seen with your posts.

It seems hard enough getting new members to register with their real name. I dont think some can read and comprehend well enough to add their location.

Just saw that on Shark Week. Seems like folks need to decide if they want to protect those gray seals or not. I'd vote to do what keeps the great whites off the beaches...

I was wondering why the system didn't list peoples location automatically. I seem to remember that it did on the old page.

A bit strange.  It appears the profile location line does not show up, but the personal info line does.  I had to read your message again, Bob, and the last one to put two and two together.  Not entirely intuitive.  C'est la vie.

System admins, any chance the forum software upgrade on Sept 1 can address this issue and make "show location" the default?

The upgrade on 9/1/11 will not address that issue. The design changes that will be rolled in over the post upgrade weeks will deal with that.

Thanks Mac. Hopefully the upgrade will make it much harder for the professional and amateur joyride spammers to post all the junk we have been seeing lately, and still let legit members post without additional hoops to jump through. Have a safe next 24 hours.

Well, another Australian here. Although I do a lot more lurking than actual posting, so I'm not sure it'll make much difference.

"Lurking Aussie."  It sounds like a movie title.  Now all we need is a script, producer, director...
