Shoes for Industry!
« on: July 18, 2011, 08:04:47 AM »

A couple of years ago there was a thread in the PSW FUD forums about gig footwear and Mac Kerr recommended Ecco Track V (low) as comfortable for long days.

It was that recommendation that motivated me to try them.  After several months of owning a pair I can say that for me, they are exactly as he described them.  I just spent 2 days in 105°F weather, mostly either standing at FOH or walking speaker coverage areas.  My feet are happy and my back isn't killing me.

Thanks for the tip, Mac.

I'm a big fan of ECCO shoes.  Their dress shoes look nice enough to wear with a suit but are comfortable enough to run in.  They also seem to last forever.

If you buy ECCO shoes on-line, be warned that most retailers, when converting ECCO's European sizes to US sizes, are off.  You'll end up with shoes too big.  For example, I usually wear a US size 10, but when buying ECCOs I wear their size 43, which most US retailers call a 9-1/2.

I did a gig for Otis Elevator once. Like every job, it had it's ups and downs.

I get mine at The Walking Store at the mall. I'm sure you have one at your mall too. The Track II or the Track V is the one to get.

The Walking 2.0 in brown looks like it will fill the bill. Now to find a store nearby.
