Flown Wedges
« on: June 15, 2011, 10:29:40 AM »

I came across this on a friends facebook page and thought I would share it. I am not sure where this venue is otherwise I would be contacting them.

Looks like a venue in Geneva Ohio that I've had the pleasure of stopping in once.

This is what happens when restaurant managers design live music venues.

That is the dumbest and ugliest pile of shit I've seen in a while.

Looks like Wally World straps holding the wedges up. (different shiny colors too)

I can only imagine what they are strapped to in the ceiling! :-X

While I would never wish harm on anyone, when it falls, the person whose idea it was to do that should be under it.

If they were attached properly I'd be curious to know how it works from an audio point of view.

A few years ago I toured with a band that played a venue in Austin (TX) with the monitors flown like in the picture. Verdict: they loved them!

Hello, It looks like "Boomers" in Allen Park, Michigan.

I notice the strategically place garbage can...directly in front of the Bass & Keyboard player... ;D

The other crazy thing is the one with the blue straps is pointed to the back wall.

The pub I work at has flown wedges, I have never once had a complaint. And whilst getting a few weird looks from BE's when they see them, they all walk out convinced it is a good idea for the venue.

Many years ago I worked in a small jazz club located in the first floor of an old grain silo. The place was tiny with no much room for the  Yamaha wedges on the stage. They were flown above the heads of the musicians, well aimed and tuned, never a complaint.

And the music was good
