Heil microphones are popular in the Ham radio community.

Bob has been a HAM since he was a kid, and the PR line of microphones are a direct result of that. Heil mics are considered the best mic available for HAM radio by any standard. Bob and Joe Walsh are great friends and it was Joe who suggested Bob re-invent his mics for use with pro/live sound while standing in Bob's kitchen one night. That effort resulted in the creation of the PR-20, which as we all know is a great stand mounted mic, but not so good when hand held due to handling noise. It was Bob, myself and others who worked to resolve that issue and the PR-22 was born.
