o1v96i and Studio Manager Problems on Win 7
« on: February 05, 2013, 09:35:53 PM »

Has anyone had problems obtaining and keeping a USB connection between a Windows 7 64 laptop and an o1v96i?

It takes forever sometimes to get the laptop to see the board and the other day at a show it was running for hours ok, and then suddenly I could not get it to connect.

Any thoughts??

Could be a power-saving issue where the USB connection is going to sleep. Make sure you have the latest Yamaha USB-MIDI driver.

I have the latest Yamaha Steinberg driver. Don't think it is a sleep issue because it will do it even after a fresh power on.

Steinberg?
I would use the one specifically for the Yamaha consoles.

According to Yamaha the Steinberg driver is the correct one for the "i" console. What driver are you thinking is better? This is the console that outputs all 16 channels over the USB for recording.

I would try the driver I linked to and see if it works better for you.

Thats my point... On the page you provided the Steinberg is the correct driver and the one I am using according to Yamaha. What driver on that page are you thinking would work?

I have the latest Yamaha Steinberg driver. Don't think it is a sleep issue because it will do it even after a fresh power on.

Make sure that the USB devices in device manager are set not to switch off to save power.
If you go to device manager, and on each of the Universal Serial Bus Controller objects go to their properties, under the power management tab you should see the settings there.

I don't have a Win7 or 01v96i in front of me today but I do Use an 01v96i on a vista x86 laptop with no connectivity dropout issues.
