Is that an SM 53/54?

It looks longer, like the SM59, but shaped like the 53/54.  I don't know why I can't help but play the guess the mic game, but someone here must know....

Yep, looks like the SM53/54... or another similar model that was built for ENG/sports reporting.  It had a line-level output and was a wee bit bigger than the 53.. but I can't recall the model number off hand.

I'm pretty sure (Shure?) that's an SM54. The 53 had a smaller windscreen.

The line level ENG mic was the SM82.

(Odd that they used an E-V clip for the photo)

I doubt they are usable these days, since they were powered by a mercury battery which I suspect is not available any longer.

The SM53/54 is dynamic, so wouldn't have that problem.  ;)

It's definitely an SM54 I'm looking at mine right now.  I think the way things are arranged in the picture just make the shaft part look longer than it actually is.

What I found most unusual and amusing was the black guy in the clip speaking Romanian.

Huh ????????????

What does the clip have to do with the poster? This was the most absurd thing I saw today.

Actually I think the clip is a more recent segment from a Romanian sketch comedy show that may or may not be a reference to the film that the poster is for.

The movie came out in 1980 and is apparently shown on the Romanian equivalent of PBS.

This is a clip FROM the movie but I still can't figure out what it has to do with microphones OR the testing thereof.

But then, I understand Romanian only slightly better than I understand some band's riders.
