Looking to upgrade to movers...
« on: May 09, 2011, 09:21:33 PM »

Hi,
Total newbie here... looking to upgrade our lighting controller to include movers. Have older Leprechaun and NSI DMX. Not mover capable. Have older rackmount DMX patchbay dimmers.

Regional acts/nationals...with 64/128 par64 setup. Thought we had a Pearl on the hook, but... alas it's gone. Would love a Grand Ma... but there just isn't enough funds for that...probably WAY more than we need... would like to stayin the 2k-3K area?

Did a number of searches online and found some but was wondering if anyone here has any suggestions.
Thanks!

under 3k you're looking at:
chamsys pc wing
vista S1 w/ 512 dongle
used hog 500
used avolites azure

personally your best options are chamsys and vista, you can download the software for either and play around with it before you make a decision, however, so you get something that you're comfortable with and fits your workflow

Not rider-friendly, but I've installed several Elation Showdesigner 3's lately for live and dance floor use, and had great results. Takes a little bit of re-thinking, but very powerful and versatile.
