Looking for the right camera.
« on: March 01, 2009, 03:08:45 AM »

I'm looking for four HD cameras for a low ceiling sanctuary with some ambient light. Standard theatrical lights are used.

My budget is around $25,000 per camera including lenses.
Must have SDI output.

I've checked out most of Panasonic and Sony broadcast lines
but I don't know how they can hold up to low lighting.

I've looked at the Panasonic HPX 500 and it seems to fit the requirement but I have yet to demo one.

Any recommendations?

Thanks.

How far back is your camera position from the stage?
Are you looking to do full broadcasting or IMAG or both?
Do you need a studio configuration?
(tripod, viewfinders, rear controllers for zoom and focus, remote  for color, iris, and gain control)

Does all of this need to be within the 25K per camera?

I'm only asking because when I purchased our Sony PDW-F330s I wasn't sure what I was doing and how much all of the peripherals really cost. You can spend more on the peripherals than the camera and lens.
