We are struggling with a failing Mackie board and would love to get rid of it and replace it with a Allen & Heath, but just don't have the budget for a new one.

I have found a slightly used GL2400-32 for sale but I am wondering if that is a good idea.  I have heard plenty of people raving about how robust these boards are but in general buying used equipment is a little scary to me.

Wondering what your opinions are regarding this board and the risk of buying a used board.  The board has been very lightly used and is "like new".

Do you have a chance to demo the product or at least inspect it prior to purchase?

Jeff certainly has the first idea and that is to 'demo' the board.  Allen / Heath makes a wide variety of mixers and of very good quality as well.  When you try the mixer out, not only checking all the functions on all channels, also listen for any 'internal' hums that are noticable.  Hook it up to a quiet amp and speaker with the mains and monitors checking for any constant noise on all the outputs, one at a time.  I personally use a 40 channel GL-3.  In the past, sometimes a hum or buzz may be audible as age sets in.  Use the mute buttons to turn on and off all the channels individualy including the subs and the mains. I've been told the poblem is usually in the 'pre-amp' sections.  Well, for whats that's all worth!  Good luck.  Ron Balsom  HPCC  Casper, Wyoming   ronbalsom@aol.com

our church just bought the GL2400-24 for our traveling road kit.  so far we love it!  

not sure if u need pre/post switches on your aux sends but the way our board is grouped is (which i think is same as the 32 channel but u should check their website and check it out):

aux sends 1-4 (pre/post switch)
then aux sends 5-6 (pre/post switch)
