RGB component video cable as S/PDIF Digital Audio Cable?
« on: March 08, 2013, 09:35:41 PM »

So I know using standard audio cables for SPDIF signals can result in some weirdness in the signal and time issues.

I looked it up and it's supposed to be a 75 ohm cable with an RCA end...well component video (RGB) cables are 75 ohm cables with RCA ends. Could I just use those? They are way cheaper (since barely any TVs get hooked up that way) and should do the same thing.

Any downsides?

Those cables should be fine. Just remember that SPDIF is limited to about 10' of cable.
