What is the source of this error code?
« on: September 02, 2018, 08:54:46 PM »

Just installed Mydmx2.1 on my laptop preparing to purchase the dongle.  I installed on my desk top and everything is fine.  Anyway, the problem is that when I start the 3D visualizer on the laptop I get this....
What has errored?

Thanks

Software can't find the dongle (token) ??
I have no knowledge of your software, but that would be my guess.

Agreed on the missing token causing the error.  Software should have a better error handling on tolken.  Behringer X32 has this on the ipad controller setup as Demo mode.

But no error on  the desktop.  Visualizer works just fine with no dongle.  I found some references to graphics card compatibity issues.

I'm pretty certain that this is a sowtware error/bug, and nothing to do with licensing tokens. "Token" in this context refers to how programing languages interpretes code.

I would check:

1) I you are using any special characters in names for files, fixtures etc.

2) That you have the correct version off OpenGL installed.

3) That you have the correct drivers for your graphics card.

...and yes: This is real shitty error handling...

Been researching all day.  My card has a max 2.1 version and the 3d program requires a min of 3.1.
So I guess I am in the market for a new laptop ( mine has a non-upgraded motherboard).
Finding a used laptop with the appropriate opengl spec is going to be labor intensive.  Not fun.

Gaming laptop would be the best bet.

So after searching for hours, researching video cards vs years released vs OpenGL 3.1 or higher... I found a reference to a reference "hidden" link on the Nvidia site that scans your computer and determines the latest driver for the card installed.  Bingo.  I now have OpenGl 3.3.  I guess the literature was stating the specs of the card (OpenGL 2.1) because that may have be the latest and greatest v. at the time.  So no new laptop required.

FYI - Wikipedia has listings of video cards by manufacturer with all the 3d rendering capabilities for all models.  (Opengl, Direct, etc)
