JBL SRX power draw change?
« on: August 21, 2018, 11:43:04 PM »

I finally got around to ordering another srx828sp and upon putting casters on, I noticed that it said "510w" on the sticker by the IEC cable, where as my old one I got mid 2015 says "310w".

Anyone know if they changed anything internally? The serial on the first one is 014xx vs 81xxx :)

Mine says 510 watts as well, but I imagine its just a different metric. As in 1/3 power vs 1/8th power. They probably figured most people aren't running these things to their limits and can use the lower power consumption number to further entice people to buy them?

For instance, I have a set of RCF NX12SMA's and they say 460 watts draw with a 1400 watt amp. The SRX is a 2000 watt amp and it says 510. Seems to be in line with what I expect to see.

Brandon,
The 2015 JBL SRX828SP spec sheet indicates AC Power Consumption at 120V at 2.2A (1/8th Power),5.6A (1/3 Power) which would be 264 (2.2A) or 672 watts (5.6A), or an average of 468 watts .

I doubt anything changed internally, but neither 510 or 310 watts seem to match the spec sheet.
