pelican-style briefcase with panel mount capability
« on: August 21, 2018, 09:55:28 PM »

I'm looking to see if anyone has ever seen a moulded plastic case like this, that has a ledge allowing a metal or plastic panel to be mounted to the bottom, but for a 12"x12" panel, and with a removable lid (instead of hinged).

There's a MILLION plastic case companies, I've looked at many, and I still can't find anything like this, if it even exists...

You might have better luck meeting your specs with a NEMA enclosure.

True. Even more electrical manufacturers than plastic case companies to search through. Argh.

Zero Manufacturing used to make cases that 19" stuff would fit in.  They were aluminum though.  When I worked for a military avionics company we used to package flight line test equipment in them.

Thank you Peter. Although none of them specify specifically a 12x12 panel case, I will contact each of them to see if they have such a beast. GemStar looks to be the most promising from their web page at least...

Pelican offers "Special Application Panel Frames" for almost all size Pelican and Storm cases. These are frames you attach to the inside of the case bottom at the lid seam. Here's an example (for the 1400 case); click on "Accessories".

The frames aren't the issue. It's the 12x12 dimensions and the removable lid/cover.

Whadda ya know? I was all over that site and never saw that. Of course Pelican owns a bunch of companies now, Storm, Hardigg, etc and the info is all over the place.
That’s not quite what I’m looking for but thanks for the link!
