Best system. JBL or RCF

Hello!

I have 4 Bose 802 series ii, with the Bose 802C controler, and a InterM 2000 amplifier.

Now, i want 1 of 2 things:

Add 1 or 2 amplified subs (with DSP)

Or sell all material, and buy all new.

I like JBL, but what i want is sound quality, and spl to shake the room.

I see the SRX of JBL. Maybe 2 tops SRX812P + 1 sub SRX818p.
On the other hand, the RCF looks good too.
2 RCF NX 32-A + one sub RCF Sub 8003-AS II

The price, here in Portugal is almost the same.
In first place, i will go to JBL SRX because of DSP on it, looks a lot better.

Any opinions?

I have not heard the RCF NX-32A, but own several NX12SMA's ( same model line ) and they are stellar units. I also own a pair of the JBL SRX 812sp's and they too are awesome. I would probably give the nudge to RCF though.

The SRX is really good, but I have noticed some rattling and buzzes from the enclosure that bothers me. It cannot be heard out front, but behind the speaker, it is enough to go hmm..... The SRX's also get very loud and sound good doing it.

The RCF MS12SMA's I have are not the same as the NX32-A, but are in the same model line and should be of comparable performance. The NX series is made with a convection cooled amp so there are no fans and should be rattle free! I think RCF is a little more modest with their specs and while the NX32-A has a 5db deficit in peak SPL potential, I think it will honestly get just as loud as the SRX units.

So While I am stoked with the SRX's, I would probably be more inclined to get the NX32-A if I were to buy another set of main PA speakers. Sound quality wise I think they would be the same, but I am learning that I prefer speakers without fans and or other panels that can rattle.

The SRX818p Sub looks better than RCF 8003as, but i already learn that the numbers never tell everything.

The quality of sound from each is actually very similar. They each have a characteristic to them that is distinct, but overall they have a similar quality of sound.

I can say that the SRX 818 is not kidding around. It is a very good sounding and performing sub. Of all the ones I have used in its market field, it is probably the best all around. Sounds good, gets loud and isn't a one-note wonder.

My experience with RCF is limited only to the NX12SMA model, but knowing their lineage and their market stance, I am confident they do not make crap. The NX series is sold as a Professional line and is RCF's mid-tier option with the TT line being the next and last step up. The sound quality from the NX12SMA is like I said just as good as the SRX, so I am confident that the NX-32A is going to perform just as well. The NX12SMA sounds exactly as the specs suggest, and the NX-32A has a very nice looking response.

I am becoming an RCF fan for a multitude of reasons. From the limited experience I have had with them, they have all been good. The JBL SRX line is very good though and for the money is still very tough to beat. Especially considering the features.

I think you will find that with both systems your tops will outrun the single sub, even with 2 single 18's, so plan on adding more subs.

I run RCF HD32mk4 (=plastic NX32a) with sub8004 per side, and even then the tops outrun the subs...

While RCF doesn't manufacture a 'budget' dual 18, JBL does in the form of the 828sp, which is only a couple of hundreds more, but gives you twice the sub. Only problem with the 828 is that they forgot to add polemounts...

So, my advice would be: If you like the JBL's sound and if you can swing it, spend a bit more now on the JBL 812's with one 828sp, and plan on buying another sub in the future.
