Console Crossfade
« on: August 12, 2018, 05:06:07 PM »

Question for those of you who have the chance to use many consoles.

I have come to enjoy the crossfade properties in the Digico consoles, it can make rehearsed events go much smoother. I especially like that crossfades can be per channel or to specified function (trim, EQ, dynamics etc.)

What other mid-to-high-end consoles offer close to this level of specificity?

Yamaha CL/QL has timed fades between scenes for fader level and pan only.  You can chose which channels are effected, but only those parameters.

A&H dLive will crossfade Fader Levels, Pans, Sends, DCAs. Crossfade speed settable per scene, not per channel.

Cool did not know about being able to specify pan. Thanks!

Thanks, been wondering about the D Live.

SSL can crossfade any variable parameter per channel and per scene (e.g. different times for different scenes).

Thanks that breaks down what they have on their website, which seemed a little obtuse (it mentioned global vs scene specific but not channel parameter). I have been curious.

Soundcraft Vi-series can sort of do the same thing via snapshot recall filters and scene crossfade.

I've done it on theater tours.
