Does this speaker exist?
« on: August 12, 2018, 04:17:02 PM »

Looking for a speaker that is Dante enabled, runs on PoE (i.e. no external power required), and isn't a ceiling mounted paging type speaker.

Oh and weatherproof for use outdoors also.

Looking for something to go along with a laser light show type event experience.

I saw the SoundTube stuff demoed at a trade show.  Not high-powered by any means, but the fidelity was actually pretty decent.  They're basically using a proprietary PoE box so they can inject higher voltages than the standard PoE protocol.

Depending on PoE standard and switch power supply, 25 Watts is available. Got a bunch of 48v injectors for all kinds of gear as well as some universal power supplies to run random gear off PoE.

Yamaha is releasing both a hipower POE switch and speaker...don't think it's weatherproof tho.

Yeah the newer specs are pretty beefy in output, though the single port injectors will cost you upwards of $150 each. Going with a switch is slightly more cost-effective, but at the cost of reduced output per port (usually between 30-60W depending on how many powered ports are in play).

Agreed, Cisco's new 9k series routers are 100w capable per port up to 3000w per slot with redundant capabilities IIRC.
