Labeller died ... what to get?
« on: July 25, 2018, 12:08:53 PM »

My old Dymo hand held thermal labeller died last week, and need to replace it ... today/tomorrow.

Never quite liked it, would rather have one that connected to a Mac/PC.

What are you using?

I use a Brother QL-700. It uses the wide tapes, but cannot use smaller than .47". If you need smaller labels Brother has other options. I have been very happy with mine.

I got the PT-D600. It's amazing. Cheap labels on amazon or eBay.

I have the Dymo Rhino 4200. I haven't used it that heavily but it's been good so far.
I bought it because of the price and good range of label types available - heatshrink, wire labels, etc.

I bought the DYMO Rhino Rhino 3000 Label Printer a couple years ago. Allegedly, lots of print options, but for even simple labels, it is painful to use - between the non-QWERTY keyboard, and the multi-keystroke functions like CAPS.  Trying to program it to do something special? Ha! Mine eats batteries like there's no tomorrow.  The AC adapter is the only viable means to power it.  The plastic feels "cheap" - though it hasn't broken as of yet.  Battery change and tape change require the unit to be taken out of its nice rubber protective doo-dad. So that protective cover never goes on...

This is a killer app for me. Being able to design a label once and print out a spreadsheet full of data using it saves so much time.

Like Nathan, I swear by my PT-E550W. Computer connection (and Brother's software is surprisingly good) and a two-blade cutter so that I can spit out a strip of pre-cut labels all still attached to a single backing sheet. Makes very fast work of RF labels.

I use a Brady BMP21. Works great for wire labels, heat shrink, or general purpose.

Thanks all,

The 550 was a 6-10day delivery, but found the D600 just fine!
