I didn't find VirtualBox stable for constant use, day in day out.
What problems did you have?

I would be curious as well.  I have used virtualbox for years.  I hav also used VMworkstation and have an esxi install at home.  All of them work well for their given task and all of them have little oddities if you work with them enough.

It's maybe 2 years back, so it may no longer be an issue. But I found I had to restart either my win10 guest or the host quite often. I forget what the trigger was, but it just wasn't solid for 40+ hours a week use. Occasional use was fine though.

Now I go weeks without rebooting either. Putting Mac to sleep often and don't have any such problems.

Those using VirtualBox, I’ve just gotten one of the new MBP with the USB-C to regular USB adapters.
Works fine in MacOS but I can’t see any of the USB devices in my Win7 VM.
I have installed the extensions to allow for USB3 support and installed the Renasas USB3 drivers in the VM as was suggested on the web, but still no joy.
The USB devices are just flash drives, nothing that needs USB3 but I can’t get Usb2 or 1 recognized either.
Anyone got any suggestions?

VB has a menu option for what devices on the host to connect to the guest.  If it's not showing up in that menu then I don't have a direct answer.

As a workaround virtualbox has a way to link a folder on the host to the guest.  It shows up as a network folder on the guest.  It lets you transfer files back and forth.

Ok, I figured it out. You have to create a filter. (Not sure why you have to do that now, as it wasn't necessary in the past)
You'd think a "filter" would be to filter out devices you DON'T want to be shown in the client, but I guess it won't show anything unless there is some sort of filter. A bit non-intuitive.
