I run an external router jacked up on a mic stand most nights.  Especially if I’m going to wander.

Cool. I'll probably plan on using my APE for the Soundcraft. Can you elaborate on some of the differences between the Mackie vs the ui24? Sound quality, or is it features, or both?

"looks like B-XAir to me"

For me, a few significant differences:
) DL16 has six auxes AND six groups, while
X/M-Air-18 has a total of six buses for auxes OR groups.
I regularly use 5~6 auxes and 2~3 groups.

) Mackie has 6~24db/octave crossovers.
Handy for my externally powered tops and subs.
And a proper line delay on each output.

) L/R and Aux outs have parametric AND graphic EQs.
X/M-Air you have to choose one or the other.

) X/M-Air has an extra stereo channel and
some features Mackie doesn't currently have, including per-channel
pre- or post-fade sends.

) For the way I mix, the Mackie is a much faster app to use.

For bigger shows, I'll stick with my DL32R, smaller will get DL16S.
My MR18 will soon be relegated to backup.

You can link 2 ui24 mixers??  Documentation somewhere??
It was posted on the UI24R FB page that with the new firmware version released this summer you will be able to cascade two Ui24rs together.

I think there's only so much that can be done with the form factor.

Minimal differences.
Too bad no Matrix Mixes, direct recording to SD/USB (without computer).

As far as the app....everyone has their preferences.
I have had DL1608 and X32 and X18.
I found the Mackie app the most clunky and confusing (and it was my primary mixer for a couple years).  Apps are always going to be personal preference (as everyone's brains work differently).

Xover filters are big one, and would make me think of this over the X18 (if I was buying today).  But not enough features to make me think about ditching the X32-Rack (which is the same price on the used market)
