Long tradition in the blues of the same instrument pushing rhythm and melody St the same time.

Some of my favorites include Lonny Johnson, John hurt, brownie McGhee, and Albert king.

For the double stopping check out Rosetta tharpe

While you're cruising utube check out Rosetta Tharpe's ultra slick wireless vocal mic.

Albert King!  I remember seeing his Flying V case and wondering if I was in the wrong club...  Naw, I was in the right venue... great music and very congenial man to work with.  He passed too soon. :(

I'd add Chet Atkins to your list.  First hearing was "yeah, these guys are very good".  That's just Chet?  OH....

I was watching the attached video the other evening and Tommy Emmanuel explains it nicely here (with a big nod to Chet Atkins):

I knew who you were referring to before I even clicked the link.

Charlie is CRAZY!!!

I did a bunch of jazz for a tv show on BET a bunch of years ago.  I remember this country hick guy in overalls coming in and setting up this crazy guitar/bass combo rig.  I figured he was the tech for this “Charlie Hunter” guy, so I spent like 30 minutes grilling him on the setup, which he happily explained to me at length. Of course an hour later he strolled out to soundcheck and proceeded to completely blow my mind.

In a career filled with some very special musical moments, Charlie Hunter is at least in my top three favorite memories. Truly a one of a kind musician, and a joy to work with.
