I-TechHD's..........I read in a brochure that they have 3000 taps available.

Is it 3000 taps per channel, or total to be allocated between channels?

Does Audio Architect allow 3rd party FIR files to be put into the IT-HD's?  (ie .wav or .bin)

I have only been able to implement custom FIR filters with 897 taps per channel in an iTechHD. It is very particular about the coefficients needing to be that number. I won’t say other numbers won’t work... but 897 is all I have been able to get to work for me. The iTechs allow for coefficients to be imported in .csv format.

I-Tech HD will accept custom FIR filters at several different coefficient quantities. The choice depends in general upon how much latency you are willing to accept.  And you are correct -- the coefficient qty has be to be exact.  If you, say, want to import 768 tap filter at 96 kHz, you have to pad out the .CSV file with 129 zeros.

48 kHz:
latency   #coeffs
3.17 ms    241
6.33 ms    481
12.67 ms    961
25.33 ms    1921
50.67 ms    3841

96 kHz:
latency    #coeffs
0.92ms    113
1.83ms    225
3.67ms    449
7.33ms    897
14.67ms    1793
29.33ms    3585

Thanks David & Rich,

Are those tap counts available for each and every channel?  For the 4x3500 too?

Linea Researech's white paper on IIR FIR LIR crossover filter types is a good read.

I believe so, but I have not personally fully tested it.  I do know that 2-channel presets can be imported into the 4x3500 on a channel 1/2 and channel 3/4 basis, so I assume the FIR tap count tracks accordingly.

Thank you.  The I-techs have considerably more taps than I expected...nice.
I think as the FIR bandwagon keeps rolling, I suspect before long we will need mag and phase curves to footnote latency  lol
BTW, appreciate your guys' straight shooting specs.
And it looks from your videos you may be building a processor collection to rival Ivan's amp collection !

A tangent on SRX/VRX DSP settings in general.  The VRX932s, SRX712s and SRX722s all leave the internal passive crossovers in line when switched to biamp.  The recommended DSP settings are all low order filters and minimal EQ. A few hours spent with an FFT analyzer is still a very fruitful endeavor with that series of boxes.

The processing for the SRX700 series extends only to V4,...
