I remember when TC announced that these were being discontinued, used prices went through the roof.  And some folks that toured with them started leaving them at home rather than risk it.

Very nice Helge.

Steve, I used to own three Ross compressors. Two have been stolen, the last one stays at home.

Doesn't look useful to the live crowd.  It looks like it's just a dedicated controller for the plugin.  No audio I/O.

Looks useful to me - I sure miss having the front panel of an FX processor to tweak in-the-moment, compared to the one in the console. Even a touchscreen takes some precision when using; physical buttons, knobs, etc. are easier for me when it comes to muscle memory.

I've known people who used the sample size in a 2290 to "fly in" things.  When it's in a rack, the controller is handy.

A big deal with the 2290 was the actual "feeling" in the Learn button.

Never been able to tap a delay "just right" after the 2290 escaped from FOH. I really hope that this controller can replicate this.

Btw: The controller works as licence dongle for the plugin, smart move.

Music seem to be hitting it right out of the park at the moment. Their synths esp. are a runaway success.

I wonder if this is the start of a new trend for FOH people, instead of the double-wide outboard gear racks of ye olde analog days, the FOH person might have something like the guitarists pedal board, but on his bigger mixing desk. Think of all the sliders and knobs and blinky lights, oh my.

I've been known to use guitar pedals at FOH... I have done simple mods to make them more useful in some cases. Can never have too many knobs and blinky lights!

An addendum is that without the control surface you only get access to all the controls in the plugin for 2 weeks after that only external control (i.e. via midi) or automation works. As for installing on multiple machines I believe the plugin allows unlimited licences, it certinaly allows for unlimited instances.
This is designed to allow you to still use the plugin when travelling but then locks it down as they feel that the hardware is an importand part of the system.

Update:

Did my first run with the 2290DT last night, a really nice tool compared to the internal delay in the inhouse Vi2000.

Curious - what were the mods?
I have a Boss ME-25 here that has a lot of interesting features, including some reasonably good amp emulators. That might start to see use in my FOH setup.

I have an old Memory Man that I use with a particular artist. I removed the foot bypass switch and installed a toggle on/off switch.

The toggle switch makes it easier to send single words or drum hits to the delay, and having a physical unit makes it easier to adjust feedback, delay time, and level on the fly. With this act I'm always on different consoles so for me this is the best way to get what the artist wants consistently.

As an update tot this thread, they are now doing the same thing but for the EMT250.
The sliders don't move, they are just up/down buttons but cool non the less.
