CL5 / RIO / AVIOM setup lost gain on few channels
« on: April 05, 2018, 05:48:07 AM »

Hi,

I have a setup consisting of 1x CL5 connected to 2x RIO3224 and an Aviom D800-Dante.
All units is updated to newest firmware and dante firmware.

We are working on a musical over a couple of weeks. Everything has worked perfectly until yesterday.
When we powered up, the console had lost gain on ch. 25-26-27 from the first RIO. There were no errors on the other channels.

What can cause this failure?
And has anyone tried something similar?

Another thing i noticed is, that one day the RIO boxes was marked as "Virtual" but audio in and out of them worked perfectly.
We restarted the console and RIO boxes a couple of times without any succes. As soon as we started the mac mini connected via DVS all RIO boxes an DVS went online instead of being "Virtual"

Could it be some kind of software bug?

In my experience, flaky, seemingly random "bugs" in CL5/RIO/Aviom world can be traced to bad cables, or a poorly configured switch.  If you are running a redundant setup, you might not even notice, unless you are paying attention, that a primary cable somewhere has failed.
