Balanced 1/4" Jack Inputs
« on: February 24, 2018, 01:01:48 AM »

I have a Behringer XR12 digital mixer with 4x XLR inputs and 8x 1/4 Jack Inputs.

The XLR inputs are balanced of course, bit I am asking about the 1/4" inputs. According to the manual, these inputs accept both balanced and unbalanced inputs.

I want to be sure what that actually means. Does that mean that if I use an XLR to TRS cable, the mixer will actually treat it like a balanced signal? Or will it accept a TRS plug and drop one conductor to effectively only take it as a TS plug?

The reason I ask is because I have quite a few long-run cables from balanced sources, and I want them to be handled as balanced signals in order to avoid interference.
