If you are using a Mac, the QU series does USB directly to the MAC very nicely.  The Q drive is also useful, but if you want it on a Mac in the end, a USB cable to Logic Pro is the simplest interface I can imagine-that is exactly what we use if we want multitrack.

If you end up with the x32rack then you can install the x-live card and record onto sd-cards. You can even record via usb to a computer at the same time for redundancy.

The option cards give you the possibility to record over the ethernet interface by using either x-dante or x-wsg (for waves soundgrid). This is perfect should you ever need redundancy recordings.

If you record via an analog splitter then the mr18 should fit the bill unless 18ch is too small.

I have used the ui24r recently and the recordings were toast, even thiugh a higher speced usb stick was used.

Don't the X-Live and X-USB cards plug into the same slot?  If so, how do you use them at the same time?

Think of the x-live as an x-usb that also contains the sd-card option. I.e. it has both options onboard and can be used simultaneously.

Oh, a really cool new gadget from klark-teknik just released is the dn9630.

It is an aes50<—>usb gadget that will allow you to connect your computer via usb to the aes50 network and record/playback all of the 48 audio streams.

It isn’t expensive either...

I’m real happy with what I get from the ui-24r.  The recordings are at least as good as what Iget from my SI rig using the Madi/USB card.  If you can live with 10 auxes then the UI-24r should be on your short list

I see this on the K-T website, but can't find it for sale anywhere.

Looks like it’s only available in europe right now. I assume it will show up fairly soon in the US.

It is €240 + vat here in europe.

The Ui can also record simultaneously to two USB ports, one stick and one to your DAW.

Thanks!!  I missed that.  That's fantastic news, because I use the USB input to drive my break music/DJ rig, as well as virtual sound checks, etc.
