Disney Speaker Lift ?
« on: February 17, 2018, 10:28:03 PM »

Was at Disney today.  They had a speaker lift that I have never seen before.  I should have taken a pic but forgot.  It was a crank-up lift with what look like a top section of truss-tower lift for chain or cable.  The top section arm reached out about 2 ft with speakers handing off it.  It appeared you would crank up the stand and then crank up the speaker.  Almost like a truss line array lift incorporated into a crank up stand.  Does anyone know what this lift is?

Thanks

Like one of THESE? Truss tower lift systems have been around for a long time, we used Mark 2 Showtowers to raise the sideline positioned PA for the halftime show at the 1986 SuperBowl.

The tops where like the mark1 with the pulley but instead of truss for the up right it was a crank up stand.

Where specifically did you see this?  Disney uses some off-the-shelf equipment but I believe also works with Tait for a number of the larger permanent installations.

It was at the Star Wars stage in front of the Chinese Theater.

The said part was they took off the DSL OS80 and replaced them with some kind of linearray that they used these stands for.

The lifts are made by Serapid lifts and the speakers are Worxaudio X5 line array with 2 TL218SS per side.

:( I thought the show was cool and all still while I was there.

The Star-Wars show is amazing though. DSL Jericho's :)

Well that's cool!

Do you work there/run the show?

Yes I work there. I was one of two designers that installed and tuned the system as well as the DSL system.
