The K&M Distance Poles are most excellent.

The JBL poles appear to be made by K&M.

Which model K&M do you suppose the JBL is modeled after? I'm not seeing an equivalent.

I use the K&M with the expanding mandrel. They were required for my 65 lb JBL tops. They seem to be holding up well, and I love the mandrel feature.

I have the 21340 Distance Rod with hand crank and Ring Lock.  It has a JBL sticker on it, but it's a K&M.

I also have the JBL SpeakerPole, Gas Assist Speaker Pole with M20 Thread. (MFR # JBLPOLE-GA)  Not sure who makes that for JBL.

Electro Voice ASP-58 I think is what you may be looking for. Threaded rod that is adjustable and doesn't have a bunch of bells and whistles.

If you google it you will find photos out there of them.

Pretty funny that four of the dead poles in our stock are the JBL branded poles that seem to be OEM by K&M.    The EVs seem to be the same OEM design.  The spring loaded pin disintegrated as soon as anyone pulled the knob with a load on the pole.  Hopefully the newer ones have resolved that.   Thanks for all the recommendations.

Who would want to do that?  >:(
Seems like an unforeseen safety feature. ;)

edit: If they are K&M, you can order replacement locking bolts. Probably K&M part 6.21460.5.00, at about 10-12 usd.

They need to be smarter than the pole.

Nope.  Good industrial design has the pin that shouldn’t move under load simply not move.  Bad industrial design has the pin knob come off in your hand while the pin and spring go flying off into the darkness.

They need to be smarter than the pole.
