Issue with Blackmagic Coverter Boxes and Barco F90-4k13
« on: February 07, 2018, 01:46:16 PM »

In September of 2017 we installed a Barco F90-4K13 and since that install we have been having issue with our Blackmagic coverter boxes. There are 2 issues:

1. We will randomly get a yellow flicker that lasts about a second. It starts about 30 minutes after the signal is sent.
2. Sometimes the projector will recognize the input signal as 1920x540 at 30hz.

I am thinking that they are 2 separate issues but wanted to see if anyone else has had these issues with the converter boxes or the projector.

Thanks!

Take a look at the firmware versions of each device and any related release notes.  Also read up on SDI A vs B vs other formats.  I have also run into distance issues with BMD SDI boxes over 150ft.  Make sure any converters and panels are appropriately grounded or isolated.

Great. I just bought a pair (to & from sdi from hdmi) of Blackmagic 6k miniconverter boxes. They seemed to work a bit in initial testing but then were flakey with 150, of RG6. Then stopped working. I even tried with 20’ of coax. Nothing.  Very disappointed.

We tried it with mini and micro with the same issues. I believe (but have not verified) that we had issues with a Decimator box as well.

We have had great experience with Decimators, hit or miss with Black Magic.

then i suggest you look further up or down the line... if you have issues with several different units from different manufacturers then the converter isn't likely to be the problem.

have you tried different resolutions?

opposite for me on 1 or 2 occasions, decimator that was unreliable but my good old dvi-SDI converter from blackmagic worked steady
