Conversation promotes learning and is like walking through a field of flowers. You may not need all those flowers, but eventually you'll pick one or two because they do something for you or to you.
Totally agreed.
There have been many instances in which, often years later, part of a discussion will "come back" and be useful.
The problem with a lot of people these days (do I sound already?) is that the ONLY thing they want is the answer, NOT the understanding WHY.
Knowing the WHY, will lead you to a much better answer, and deeper understanding that will be useful later in another situation.
The "simple quick answer", only fixes the immediate situation, and doe not allow for flexibility.
True understanding is a lot harder/longer and MUCH more valuable.
THAT WAY, you don't have to ask so many questions, you can provide your own answers.
THerefore you are are valuable to someone.
But if you must know, the answer to everything is "42"
