JBL SRX800 series metering on Audio Architect and SRX Connect
« on: January 28, 2018, 01:07:20 PM »

Hi guys, hope you are all well.

I have a question about SRX metering.

The output metering just doesn’t seem to represent what is being produced by the speaker.

The best ways to explain it is in the following scenario.

I plug a source into an 818, then link to an 835. I place a HPF on the source and slowly increase the frequency from 35hz up to 1khz. The crossover frequency between the cabs is set at 80Hz. So the expected result is that as the HPF frequency rises about 80Hz, the output meter of the 818 should drop to 0. But is doesn’t. Why?

It’s like the output meter is placeed pre crossover. Which doesn’t actually show you what its internal power amp is doing at all.

It does this on both pieces of software.

I’m yet to find a way to see the actual output of each speaker. Even the meters on the actual speakers seem to be input meters.

Can anyone shed some light?

Thanks, Ben.

I believe the meters show the input level, not the output level. I noticed the same thing on my SRX rig. If I link the sub to the top they show the same meter level if the gains are set the same on the amp panel.
