This looks like a way to use phones as com.
Not what I need.
I want to be able to create a phone bridge com connection to multiple cities using existing VOIP phone systems.

Yep, just need to convert the comms signal the same way you would if you were interfacing it with any other audio gear.

By this Ike is saying there are lots of 4W converters to 2W comms. The best is the Studio Technologies series 45, 46, and 47. Clear Com has a more budget friendly device, the EF701, and RTS has the SSA-324.

These will all convert your 4W circuit to 2W, and some of them will power belt packs.

It occurs to me I could use the headset connection from a com beltpack, through transformers (for iso) and a couple of pots (for level control) to a cable terminated in RJ9.
Plug that into any phone available.

If you can get away with using a cell phone for this, I've had good results with the JK Audio Blueset. It plugs into a standard intercom pack or station where the headset would normally plug in, and connects via Bluetooth to a cell phone. They actually work pretty well, and they don't break the bank. They're available with 4 or 5 pin, male or female XLR.

I've used a JK Audio THAT-2, and was not impressed. A real (ie:better) phone hybrid is much nicer, if that's what you need. An intercom to telephone interface is your best bet in this case though. Others have suggested good options for this, there are quite a few out there.

Interesting item!
The crew has been using cell phones as "com bridges" but it's a shabby way to go.
I have also considered just having the cell phone audio out go to the com system for cues only and no talk back.
