I still have a quartet of 2441's on Community BRH-90 horns if you want to peel paint off something.... or ears off of someone.... ;D
Chris.

The 2441's out of the box were better sounding than a 2445.
In good clean condition the 2441's still sell for good money to home stereo guys.

If you're willing to ship to Japan they'll fetch crazy prices.  Same with old Altec drivers...

Yeah-the stuff we used to throw away because it wasn't "pro" enough or wouldn't take the abuse. :(

Old Western Electric is where the REAL money is.

Western Electric and RCA are the holy grail of vintage components.

I was close to scoring a complete RCA theater system some years ago that was still installed in an old theater, the guy would not sell. When it was all said an done I'm 99% certain it was bull dozed with the demo of the building, my eye's get watery just thinking about it!!

Two words.... "field coil".... equal big $$$ in the vintage component market.

Used an RCA theater system as a band in the late 70's. Single 15 folded horns..multicell horns with phenolic drivers...supplemented by a single 15 Heil mid horn and JBL bullets on top. All run on Crown DC 300 and
150 amps.

And those are worth it.  Maybe not what they are asking, but quality.

Yeah

Todays "weaklings" complain about a 75 lb speaker.

Back in my day, just the HF weighed 110lbs.  A 2445 driver on a large cast aluminum horn in a simple wood cabinet with wheels

Setup took a lot longer in those days, bigger trucks, more crew etc
And each passband needed a separate speaker cable

Back in the 80’s we used Hill M4’s and M6’s, they must have been close to 150-200 kg a cab.  No wheel boards, just two guys brute strength,  not sure what we were thinking! 😁

We didn't have any many choices back then.  MANY things were different.

It is SOOO much easier these days.

And when you go back a little bit further, to the 600 ohm days, when you had to calculate the power transfer between all of the signal devices, being sure to properly terminate them, or they go to pieces (white eq for example).

It is MUCH easier with a voltage transfer system like we have today.  It is much more like plug and play.

And don't even go back to when you had to wind coils in order to tune a system, or order filters (white again) and wait for a freq to arrive to see the difference it made.

Yeah-tell me again about the "good ol days"--------
