Playback

Rob Spence:
What are good playback solutions?

I have had difficulties on occasion where I would que something to play on a laptop, tested it, then have the computer suddenly have something more important (snark) to do when I hit play for real. Really embarrassing with everyone looking at me.

I would prefer not to spend a huge amount but sure willing to spend something to prevent this again.

Playlists would be nice too.

My old Toshiba windows vista box is getting old in the tooth too.

I have had very good results with Sport  Sounds Pro. (Windows only) about $150
Also, just downloaded Sound Byte (multi platform) lite version is $40
Both are "cart" style players.

Qlab on a Mac works fine...  especially if you follow their directions to keep the computer from doing anything ‘more important’.

If you have a spare iOS device, Figure53 also makes GoButton. Sort of Qlab for audio

QLab was audio only for years before they added video and lighting.
