I've been playing around with these:
https://www.axis.com/us/en/products/network-speakers those paired with the Axis Audio Player makes for a great little system. It can play music from various sources and overlay announcements that are clock or calendar based. These announcements can be from the built in library or imported in from your own files. Because they are network/POE speakers, wiring is dead simple. Each speaker is addressable and can be zoned if needed for content and/or output level. There is mic for live announcements, which I've yet to try. Best of all, because it's network driven, it's much more difficult to sabotage. It's goes on and off when you program it to, can change content based on clock/calendar and with potentially no analog input for day to day use, you're not going to walk into your store at eight o'clock at night and hear Slayer coming out of your speakers unless you programmed it in.
As stated above, be mindful of music licensing.
