« on: December 17, 2017, 09:32:34 AM »

...and at what frequency range is it "cardiod"?

I imagine it works reasonably well but as you ask, at what frequency?

Before the KS212C subwoofer, a cardioid setup was impossible in a mobile setting, much less with a single, portable enclosure.
Not true!
Meyer had a 2x18 powered card sub years ago. Kinda big but still, on wheels. ;)

Not to mention the D&B B4, a lot more portable than the Meyer (& it's still on wheels ;-) ).

Didn't that Meyer sub actually have 3 drivers - 2 front-firing, and 1 rear-firing?

If memory serves, the rear facing driver was a different size too.

Cheers,
Tim

If we are talking about the M3d sub....
Two firing forward and two firing to the rear. The rear drivers were 15's.

Reminds me of the Nexo CD12, but powered and a lot more portable..

Yep.That was the configuration.
You could switch the rear speakers on and off as required.

Not only Meyer, but RCF and DB Technologies and others have had cardioid subs with front and rear facing drivers.  All could be considered "portable" to some extent.  I heard a demo of the QSC at LDI and it was reasonably impressive, especially for its size.  Definitely portable - not under 50 lb./3 cubic feet portable, but one person can manage it.

Not originally, but the Meyer folks did see Ted's modified boxes and were impressed with how "factory"it looked.
