DMXIS fixture question
« on: November 26, 2017, 02:15:19 PM »

I was planning on getting a DMXIS set up for next year and downloaded the program. The program has several pre-sets for lights but none for the Chauvet DJ Slimpars and Intimidator movers I own. I can't figure out how to program a profile for my lights. Is there something I'm missing?? Any input would be appreciated.. Thanks in advance..

Interestingly, they seem to use an online profile creator. You will need to log in to use it:

The fixture definitions are really very simple text files. I'd look at ones that have already been installed by the DMXIS software and copy/paste/edit one that will work for you by following the DMX chart in the correct fixture manual. Many of the LED pars and movers that Chauvet (and others) make will be similar to the ones you need and you'll just need to make simple edits. You can find the existing files in the directories listed under the "Installing a new fixture file" heading at the webpage that Steve Garris linked to in his post.

I've made profiles for both slimpar's and 4bar's. It's quite easy. Let me know if you get stuck.

It's a Great little program for me as I'm usually playing and don't want to think too much about the lights, but still want to put on a good show.

All the fixtures are in the C:\Program Files (x86)\ENTTEC\DMXIS\DmxLibrary directory.

I created a directory in there for all my personal fixtures. Call it AA_MyFixtures so it's at the top of the alphabetical list.

Look at some of the other *.dmx files in the library.  Those should give you an indication of the format.

As an example, here's a definition I created for a Chauvet Intimidator Spot 255 IRC 13 Ch:
