Dante-Live Mix install issues
« on: November 14, 2017, 03:28:05 PM »

Any Dante/live mix gurus out there?
I'm pulling my hair out trying to make it work... My Dante network consists of a pc, two my16 cards in my M7, a mix 16, and 2 shure ULXD. I have a netgear switch they're all connected to.
I made one of the my16's the master clock, getting ext sync from the M7 All devices show up and are solid in Dante Controller. Board is green in Dante Controller
My issue is that some inputs work, and others don't. One input that was working was rather distorted, though the outport on the m7 looked fine. I feel strongly that I have everything in the board routed properly, but am concerned about the network being my issue.

I believe you also need to have the M7 get clock from the Dante card.
How are you routing the audio? Which things work and which don’t?
The mechanical configuration you have seems ok.

My understanding is the same as Rob's. All devices should use the same clock. One of the my16's is fine. Have the M7 use the my16 slot as the master clock.

Just a quick addition. Setting the slot as master is covered on page 231 of the manual.

I believe you also need to have the M7 get clock from the Dante card.

I had it set up this way initially, but changed it when the Digital Audio Labs guy on the phone recommended to set it up how I have it now. Same problem no matter how i've got it set up. Some channels work, others don't. Does't seem to be any rhyme or reason for why.

Does the word clock on the M7 all show as sync'd and locked?

Yes, Word Clock seems to be happy on the M7.

So you are running analog out of the ULX-D's right. I think only the quad is direct Dante. Have you checked the gain levels on the Y16?

The two-fer and the quad unit both have Dante. I would *hope* that you can Dante that into MY16-AUD cards, but I've not tried it. (Despite having all of the requisite gear!) I know you wouldn't get the detail and control that you would get on a QL/CL series board.

The downside to using Dante to get your ULX-D mics into the board is you lose the control of the mic pre because there is no mic pre when you use digital inputs. I find it much easier to use analog and have an easy to grab input gain control rather than trying to get the software to work so I can control the receiver's output control from the console surface.
