Colored mic pouches?
« on: November 04, 2017, 09:33:56 PM »

Do these exist? Would love to not look at 15 black pouches and wonder which is which?

Possibly dumb idea:

When I was in primary school - in the 70's, shutup - there was the one cool kid whose pencil case was a Shure or perhaps EV mic pouch.

Go to your local toy store/stationary supplier and buy coloured pencil cases.

Cheers,
Tim

Perhaps use a sharpie on the label on these?

Jason, I always count on you to have the cool RF accessories. ;-)

I really like John's color code idea. Mine are all black with silver Sharpie content notes.

I went to a company that makes promotional items (the kind of place that puts your logo on anything) and had them print my logo on large pencil cases, and then we use a sharpie for the contents.

Walmart has those bank bags in multiple colors.
I bought them for the exact same reason.
They even have some 'double' ones which are useful (I put mic in one side, and ear plugs and crap in the other side).

Mic pouches ?  I kinda like opening the box and looking at the mics...  I do use pouches for the odd balls.  They are easily separated though an e-604 in ouch does not look anything like a 421 or pencil condenser or LDC choral mic.

I bought the box from Audiopile.  One of my local competitors made his from a plastic tub and lid from Walmart.  He snagged some of the right textured foam and cut Mic body sized holes in it.   He’s been at it a long time and has learned to fab stuff I would rather write the check for...

I prefer to have mine in a mic case or drawer. Open the case/drawer, pull out the mic you want, problem solved.

When I do use pouches for mics, I tend to just write what the contents are using a Sharpie and white electrical tape. Replace as needed. I have 19 colors of electrical tape though, so if I want to color code something with tape I can, and I often do, just not mic pouches. I tend to follow resistor code when I color code things.

I also have some colored pouches from these guys. They make several sizes, and they're great.
