More audiphools?

Demagnetizing plastic? How the hell is this supposed to work? I could discharge static by wiping a CD on my posterior!

Ya, Whatever. Just throw a '57 on it, and get off my stage.

It all has to do with the hind leg of the thorax gland of a south pole platterpuss.

Plastic is a capacitor and holds a static charge.  A simple ionizing gun neutralizes any latent charges in the plastic.  If you want to see static charge prevention in action go to a paint or munitions factory where a stray static spark can make a real mess.

With vinyl, the static discharges across the stylus to the cantilever of the cartridge making a pretty noticeable "pop".  Anti-static guns, mats, and brushes have been around forever.  There are some silly things that some audiophiles do, this isn't one of them.

The Destat III makes sense, but the Demag?  Seems like clever marketing to me-get someone to buy the sensible device and sell the second questionable one at the same time to make sure everything is as good as it can be?

I had one of these Zerostats along with the whole discwasher set in the 80's.  It was cool stuff.  Aside from the Vampire wet record vac nothing did a better job.
