I have both the new USB3 camera connection dongle, and the apple  USB to Ethernet dongle. The iPad (4) shows Ethernet present on the iPad.

X-Mix cannot connect to my X32 Rack, as I can wirelessly. I have tried both with/ without the switch I use before my WAP.

Has anybody made this work?

Since this is a direct connection, have you set static IP addresses for both devices?

I've gotten this to work, but i don't recall what my exact setup was.  Most likely it was a wired network only with some form of Cisco DHCP server as that's typically how we are set up at work.

If i were you, my first step would be to connect the iPad directly to the X32 and make sure the X32 is set to DHCP.  Restart everything and let both devices get a self assigned IP [give it a minute or two].  If you get that to connect, then you know you just need to get your DHCP server to hand out addresses to both devices and that should connect as well.
