Harman closes AKG Vienna
« on: October 16, 2017, 07:41:07 PM »

I'm not sure if this has been posted previously or not, but Harman is closing AKG Vienna as part of it massive shedding of overseas staff.

Good luck to all at Austrian Audio.

Cheers,

Indeed!

Can't help but wonder what those formerly iconic Harman brands will look like a year from now...

Admittedly, I'm a fan of AKG and I don't like this a bit.  Hopefully this won't change their core microphone offerings but I'm very pessimistic of what the future holds for AKG.

Alternatively I can't wait to see what comes out of the new Austrian Audio folks!

Agreed, I'd excited to see what they have to offer in the future. I'm expecting it to be something like AKG but better. I'm glad they're sticking it out and rising from the ashes that Samsung is leaving behind as they burn the world to the ground with their lithium batteries.

I have a Samsung phone now, so I guess I can't complain too much. I'm just disappointed at what they're doing to such iconic brands. Oh well, I'm glad I picked up another few C414's last year. There's no telling what's going to happen now.

At least you know with a name like Austrian Audio they shouldn't be able to move their manufacturing to China!

Those who are AKG headphone fans should have noticed long ago that made Austria could no longer be found on the headphones. I bought 2 pair of 271 cans about 2 months ago and compared to my older cans there was no difference in quality. The one thing I don't like is the muting switch.
