Shooting at a country music festival outside of Mandalay Bay on the Strip. Early reports are that the shooter was firing from one of the upper floors in the Mandalay Bay hotel into the crowd at the festival. Police are reporting that they killed one suspect.

Unverified reports of multiple wounded and killed. Las Vegas PD just reported in excess of 100 people injured and more than 20 killed.  :'(  LVPD still asking people to shelter in place for the time being. I know most of the properties were on lockdown.

I'm sure by the time the rest of the country wakes up to go to work we'll have some more solid info.

You guys in Vegas, report in when you can, please.

Sounded like a full auto weapon of some description in several of the videos on the news.

Yeahhhh, Chris.... I'd ask that you be careful about how you poke the hornet's nest like that.

... that being said, I think we all agree about the reality of this situation: No matter our personal positions on gun control, incidents like this aren't caused by gun control laws (or lack thereof) but due to mental instability of people. Freely available firearms don't cause this- someone being f*cked in the head does. [Or true on terrorism.]

Thank goodness, no, I haven't. heh. But I can imagine... Probably same for being housekeeping at a hotel.

Apparently the shooting suspect has been at the hotel since Thursday.

I was just thinking about the folks at FOH. They must have been pretty vulnerable. I hope they were able to find cover.

I've heard that audio/lighting/video was shut off immediately, so the crowd knew something was up. A buddy mentions a video where it showed that-- but then also noticed that the video being cut might not have been deliberate (but rather being shot).

I remember last year when we were getting ready for Seattle's Pride, and that was just after the Orlando shooting, and my mother asked me to be safe in case something happens, and I told her that my first responsibility would probably be calling out a warning to the crowd so they could take cover.  :-\     I don't like these times.

Glad to hear your peeps are safe.
