Hey John,

Where abouts in the UK are you?
If you're anywhere near Sheffield, hit me up. Happy to lend you one of my 15"s for an evening.

That said, if that KV2 12" sub will put out 124dB down to 38Hz and sound good doing it, I'd probably just buy one of those. Those are good numbers.

I would look at the KV2 Audio EX1.2 :-

I have no experience of that particular sub, but having been present at a KV2 speaker demonstration at PLASA on Monday, I would definitely include KV2 in any speaker consideration.

That's very kind of you, Chris. That said, I'm probably still looking for a 12" sub, as I'm hoping to keep it quite small and light to fit in the car.

Thanks, Ivan. I'll have a look at that, too.

I'm interested in this. In fact I emailed a company in Glasgow that supposedly supplies KV2. They never replied, though.

The most impressive was a couple of ESR15s over ES1.8 subs.  But even two of their little 2x5" speakers and one sub sounded good.

Steve.

I heard some of the smaller speakers at Plasa Leeds. Really wanted to hear what they'd do without a sub, though. For small acoustic gigs, running a 2x5" (or 2x6") box a side would be lovely if they could hack it. Alas, the demo guy said he can't run the smaller boxes without the subwoofer.

The 2 x 5" speakers with a single or even two small subs appealed to me for the small, acoustic/folk events I do.

They could certainly do what I want with one sub.  Not sure about without though. It would depend on the crossover point.  I suspect it's a bit higher than the usual 100Hz, making the sub do a bit more work than normal.
