new pots
« on: September 14, 2017, 09:22:06 PM »

I have a pair of RCF  ART 522a's speakers  that I purchased new  approx. 8yrs ago  and have loved them since.  Anyways, the attenuator pots on the plate amps  have gotten very noisy  and even make extremely loud transient  thumps or pops   when the knobs are touched.  Ive exercised them and have used de-oxit.  Very little improvement noticed.   RCF-USA states they no longer carry parts for that model nor does Parts Express.   They did send me the schematics  to offer to my local repair center when  I take them in.  Just wondering if the pots needed to be replaced  would that typically be something readily  available in aftermarket places ?

Once you figure out what they are, check places like Digi-Key or Mouser.  If someone makes one, you can usually find it there.

Noise like that can be caused by leaky capacitors (that put DC across the pot) so it may not be the pots at all.

We have some old ART310A-ii that we regularly send in and have repaired at our local dealer, they take bloody long but always come back working.

EDIT: For the exact same issue.
EDIT Again: they are original ART310As not the Mkii model. I really feel that they should be able to repair your boxes.
