Wowzers, two in one day...

Troy Gentry, of Montgomery Gentry, was killed in a helicopter crash today, the band's website has reported.

Don Williams has also passed away, according to Billboard.

I did a gig for Otis Elevator once. Like every job, it had it's ups and downs.

Worked with MG a few years back. Great crew and a great show. Very sad indeed.

I am utterly wrecked over T-Roy's passing. We have history together.

I worked for Eddie Montgomery's brother, John Michael, from 1994 until 2004 as MON engineer.  Eddie toured with us as Security Guy until forming M/G.  Whenever we gigged around Lexington or Nashville, Troy was around and friends with our whole organization.  I started mixing mons for M/G while they were showcasing for a deal and JMM was off for awhile. Then did a couple of runs with them before the record took off and we had incredible fun. Everyone was on the same bus and just roaring with piss and vinegar. We were all so excited that the record was well received.  Troy was totally cool, always, and made it clear every day that he appreciated each of the crew.

We lost one of the good ones.

Don Williams grew up in Portland TX. which is just over the bridge from here. I remember him playing at one of the local VFW halls when I was young. Always loved that smooth voice.
