Soundcraft SI Impact Peak Light
« on: September 05, 2017, 12:38:23 PM »

Our Si Impact console will hit the peak light pretty easily on the drum channels. But the meter seems to skip over some of the level lights and hit the red peak light while still showing some signal level lights un-illuminated. We occasionally have this happen on out LR and MONO output.

Now this is our first digital console, and I was trained on the old analog consoles that peaking a channel is VERY BAD to send to your FOH mains.

Any input, thoughts, suggestions?

Isn't that how you win the game? Light up every red light on the desk?

The peak light monitors several areas in the signal path. Not just the output of the channel. It's possible you have too much gain coming in, then after the EQ cuts and Compression you have a workable amount coming out. Try backing off the gain, but adding some volume with the fader.

Bullwinkle: This is the amplifier, which amplifies the sound. This is the Preamplifier which, of course, amplifies the pree's.
