That Ipad is a real attraction. Lots just can't resist to hover their hands above it, but never touch it. I just smile at them to confirm their originality...

I've found that the light board is the perfect tool for making 1/2 db adjustments and any other "expert" sound suggestions.

Seems like "experts" have great ears but poor eyesight as they can't tell a light board from a sound desk.
Once had an "organizer" ask me why my keyboard wasn't on stage with the rest of the band.
PM3K-48 with a double-wide of goodies.
Well, It did have YAMAHA stenciled on the back........... just not DX7 !!

Ya, Whatever. Just throw a '57 on it, and get off my stage.

At one of my regular gigs an (self-acclaimed at several occasions) house-engineer from a rather large establishment at a nearby town came to us as a BE. I am still wondering who did/does all the work for him, because it sure as h*ll wasn't him. Had to babysit him from load-in to -out... Even as stagehand he would fail in my opinion.

I can neither confirm or deny that I have set up dummy channels on digital mixers that were not routed into the mains.  Make lots of tweaks until an annoying producer says "It's Perfect!" and walks away.

My favorites are soundchecks and the band has a member standing out front directing changes and before I can get to the appropriate layer/control to make any changes they look over at me and and make the statement "that sounds better" or when during check, one of the band members says "I need more ______ in my wedge" and before I can turn it up, I hear "yeah that's better"

Ask them what the definition of a dB is.  And if it's less than one, how do they know?

I had a lady walk up to me when I was mixing and she told me that the guitar needed more 400K. I smiled, thanked her and told her I was just getting ready to turn that up, and that she had amazing hearing.

Did you try it?  Maybe she was right.

Or better yet says, "Oh, too much, bump it down a bit.  Perfect!"

So I was running sound at my house club, mixing my hair metal band on Saturday night, and some guy who was sitting at a "sweet spot" table motioned me to come over. I'm running lights on a fixed controller and sound on an iPad. I get there and he tells me "you're off by about 1/2 db". I started laughing and he became visibly upset, so I went back to mixing. The place was packed and the bands both sounded fantastic all night.

He later came up to me and said "I've a pro and have been mixing audio for over 30 years". I was still laughing so he got frustrated and left. What in the hell was he trying to tell me - off by 1/2 db?

Thats pretty good. I didn't know making an accusation like that was allowed in Canada. I guess it is eastern Canada... ;-)
